For most of its life, Angel City has been slow to grow. Without any major waterways nearby, trade to and from the area never appealed to many. At least, not until ore was found in the nearby hills. This ore, mostly iron, is what led to Angel City's growth boom. With several mining towns and farming communities surrounding, Angel City became a hub for trade. Growth continued further when the US became involved in WWI. Steel and textile factories were built to assist the fight against the Central Powers in Europe. Now, with the war ended two years before, Angel City struggles to keep its industry strong. Adding to the problem: the government's alcohol prohibition. There is no safe place to order a drink openly, for fear of punishment, unless one knows the secret passage into hidden speakeasies. Mafia crime is at an all-time high, as is corruption among those meant to fight such crime. Still, the citizens of Angel City continue to enjoy themselves, eeking out what lives they can and kicking back with illegal booze. They do their best to ignore the troubles of the world and choose to remain ignorant of the darker side of Angel City....
