She rubbed her arms at the coldness surrounding her. Morgan had never been one who particularly enjoyed the cold, having been born at the end of winter. When you thought about it, it didn’t really make much sense, she should love the winter. Yet the thought of anything below 70 degrees made her scrunch up her nose in distaste. She really was a true island girl at heart. She loved the island, couldn’t imagine her life anywhere else. She had traveled to the mainland a few times and it was nice, but she could never stay away from here for good. It just wasn’t for her. She knew most girls her age wanted to leave home and leave the island behind, but Morgan didn’t. She loved it here, knew who she was here. Her life was picturesque on the outside, and it wasn’t that screwed up on the inside. Why would she want to change that. No, she was content to stay on the island for the rest of her life. But I digress, she was really cold.
She was sitting on top of her car at in the parking lot of the beach. It was almost eleven thirty at night. She had always liked nighttime best. There was just a stillness at night that the daytime didn’t have, and she loved that. He also enjoyed the animals that came out at night. He liked the chirping sounds of the crickets, and sea turtles as they tried to make it to the sea before the birds got them. She loved hearing the seagulls talk to one another, and watching the animals she didn’t get to see during the day interact with each other. Morgan leaned back on her windshield and looking out into the darkness, and let her mind wonder.
She couldn’t seem to concentrate on anything these days, his mind constantly drifting to the summer two years ago. She would never admit to missing him. The him in question being Thomas Alexander Gabriel, he and Morgan had a thing in the past, and well let’s just say it didn’t end well. The boy had broken her heart completely, and it hadn’t fully been put back together since. As much as she pretended to despise him…she still couldn’t hate him completely. He had been her first love, and that was something she wasn’t sure she’d ever get over. The notebook had said you never forget your first love, and she was learning that the hard way. She'd be lying if she said that she didn't think that he was one of the hottest people she had ever met, she'd also be lying if she said that she had never found herself daydreaming about him. She sighed quietly, as she laid there on her car lid.
